The place to go when there is too much snow in Minakami
OVERVIEW
Okutone Snow Park is located to the north of central Minakami town in northern Gunma Prefecture. This ski hill originally opened in 1972 as Okutone Kokusai, but is known as Okutone Snow Park since 2007. It offers good intermediate courses and is relatively easy to access via trains and a free shuttle bus.
The resort is known for staying open even on the snowiest of days. Add the early morning and evening riding and it can be a great option for getting fresh pow when nowhere else in Minakami is open or accessible.

Sobatokoro Kadoya is a local favorite and a must try for visitors to Minakami. The soba noodle restaurant was founded in Nagaoka City in the Niigata Prefecture over 250 years ago before moving to its current location in Minakami in 1989. Kadoya maintains a strong commitment to the tradition of handmade buckwheat soba noodles that are rolled cyprus cutting boards and sliced with a custom knife to ensure the freshest flavor and texture. OVERVIEW
White Valley is mostly a beginner to intermediate mountain the easy access to ungroomed powder makes it a sneaky option when other local resorts are closed or with limited operations. The small resort first opened in 1962 and is located in the Tanigawa Onsen area of Minakami town in Gunma Prefecture.
The resort can easily be accessed by train and a free shuttle from Minakami station making it a great one-day trip from Tokyo or an easy winter getaway.

Yuterume Tanigawa Onsen is one of the best values and location for a soak, especially after a day in the snow at White Valley Ski Resort.
